How thick should a tile be?<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

The material and its future use determine the thickness of the tiles<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

When we are going to choose tiles for an architectural or interior design project<\/strong>, we must take into account many fundamental factors and the most important one, is the use we are going to give them, because a wall tiling for a kitchen is not the same as floor tiling for a high traffic floor<\/strong> in a shopping centre or a tile that we are going to lay in a place that is a little more complicated, such as a garden. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Therefore, the first thing we must always be clear about when we are going to choose tiles is how and what they are going to be used for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This use will determine, among other things, the thickness of the tiles to be laid<\/strong>. It seems obvious that the tiles will be thicker the more resistance our project requires, but other characteristics come into play here, such as the material of the tiles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In general, the thickness of a tile is around 1 centimetre<\/strong>, but we can find different exceptions depending on the material used and what it is going to be used for. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
